Setting up Wordpress help
the past few days I've been messing around with ubuntu trying to learn linux and thought to try and setup a wordpress site but I keep running into issues, I can get phpmyadmin to work fine, the database is there and the user has permissions but everytime I load the site I get a blank screen. I've set the api key and correct information in the wp-config.php file, I've also increased the memory limit to 256M. I've enabled ufw to allow port 80, 22, 443 to work as well, and also configured the apache2/sites-available/wordpress.conf file. Any help would be much appreciated, since I've looked at tutorials and forums and nothing is helping.

I've also changed permissions of the directory
I also don't have any plugins installed, its just the base wordpress installation
Hey, Not my field of expertise but if my memory serves me right it might be something with with apache permissions
Yea I'm not entirely sure, I'm currently trying a different php version, since I am using an older version of wordpress, hoping thats the cause of this issue, since I've configured the apache permissions on multiple occasions
Whats the wp version you're using?
A pretty old one I'm using version 5.4.1, mainly because I wanna teach my self how to harden it since its gonna have a lot of vulnerabilities
Now php can cause issues
So I'm now trying php version 7.4
Is your php version 7.3?
7.4 could work
when I got that error I was using was like 8.3 or something so I'm hoping 7.4 will do the trick
Yea the newer the php version the newer the wp version needs to be
That was a bloody nuisance but it worked lol, at least I know for next time and was a good learning experience, I wish I tried a lower php version earlier, spent so long trying everything else except for the version lmao
Im happt to hear!
