My pc boots into the windows recovery menu because of an over clock using MSI afterburner and I can't figure out how to fix it without factory resetting my computer

What are your component specs? What kind of OC did you apply and to which component(s)?
h
It boots into windows, even if it's just recovery, you get an OS boot, so it passed POST.
Intel core i-5 6600k rtx 2070 super 48 gb of ram
Which oc did you apply to
Huh
Oc as in overclock?
Which component
Yes
Did you OC the RAM, the processor?
Both gpu and cpu
I turned of xmp for my ram
change the GPU overclock back to normal
if your CPU was borked then it wouldn't post
Can't did that in MSI afterburner
if you can't boot into windows then reinstall windows
You are borked if you cant get into windows currently
I'm going to try and see everything back to default
I wouldn't say so. He can POST. so the OC isn't too bad
Yes

You pray that windows sorts it out
Repair first, try to boot into safemode next. If safemode works, open Afterburner and revert to stock settings.
If Windows won't boot then the OS is borked, but that can just be reinstalled.
Do you think this guy can get his data back?
It's been a good run boys
How is it
So far

A GPU overclock shouldn't cause Windows corruption/need for repair by itself, so I suspect there is information you aren't telling us. Also, overclocking your GPU while you are 110% getting bottlenecked by the processor is a wild choice. Adds extra instability for 0 increase in performance because your processor is booty cheeks regardless.
Keep my files.
So should I over clock CPU and see if it works
No
Its the definition of insanity
I just power cycled
No... Overclocking anything on that rig is pointless, do not do it.
Ok
So reset
So um
Pray

I done fucked up bad
Ah shit
Borked
What got borked probably gpu right
Do you have a laptop
Cpu
No desktop
Gpu is ok if u get a display
Fuck
Dammit

A spare
You need to download a Windows 10 image to a USB drive, and clean boot from that drive.
I can maybe get the Ryzen 7 5800 my dad has
Can we move the SSD to a spare
Mabey
I do have a laptop
So he can keep his data
thats what im thinking
Hmm I'm getting the laptop
I have the laptop @Typical_220v_AC
What do I need to do guys
Cause rlly incan just install windows
Right

So I don't think it's dead
Good new @Typical_220v_AC @WanderingPacket @CitizenFortress
It's not dead but windows is
absolutely, even if cpu and gpu and ram are cooked there's no reason the SSD would be borked
i don't have much experience with overclocking but something like this i don't think you would've actually broken any components
you might be able to get away with factory resetting just your BIOS, that might wipe all your overclocks and put your device back in a usable state
plus it's a much easier fix and only destroys your bios configs rather than your entire system

Can you guys help me here
Sys 32 is fucked
@WanderingPacket I need help
Install windows
google how to install windows, there's plenty of very good tutorials on it
still making some good progress hopefully though :MintHype:
@pls hire me I'm switch to Linux I'm sorry XD
lmao based
ok easy way, burn a linux mint ISO onto a flash drive and just use the live install
no OS install needed yet, if it boots normally you should be able to confirm that everything is ok and also check to make sure your overclock isn't in place
I did it already XD
Before I even checked discord
lmao
It's installing rn
Then I'm switching my fuckass laptop to linux
waiwaiwaiwait you were trying to overclock a laptop??
that's a really bad idea for several reasons
No
I have a laptop I tried over clocking desktop
Did it work
Sorry went to sleep
