upgrade some things issue
I upgraded my graphics card from an RTX 3060 to an RTX 5070, and I felt that there isn’t a big difference. The difference only shows when I use the RTX 5070 features, like frame generation. I also upgraded my processor from the latest i5 to the latest i7, and I didn’t feel a big difference either. I downloaded the GPU driver from the NVIDIA software .

what're you doing with it?
gaming? if so what games
if you're on windows, did you do a fresh windows install?
can you list your full specs for before and after upgrade? and how are you measuring your increase in performance? please include any fps or benchmark numbers you may have
also please include your monitor model
playing games
rdr2 gta5 valorant
no i didn't
gta5 is fps bound by the engine
valorant you'd be getting crazy fps regardless
and rdr2 is really finicky
The first game I played to test the performance after the upgrade was the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and I didn’t see a huge difference—maybe just around 50 more frames. However, with technologies like frame generation, the FPS reached 400+ in the game.
But I still want to feel smoother gameplay.
before :
i5 last gen
3060 rtx
32 ram
750w power supply
last monitor from redragon 165 hz full hd
after :
i7 last gen
5070 rtx
32 ram ( I feel like the RAM isn’t running at its full potential (
1000w power supply
my monitor now from sharx 300hz full hd
For the FPS, I think I only gained about 40+ compared to before.
I measured the FPS in the games I play, I don’t use measurements from another source.
that's all
is that raw without framegen, or dlss?
what res is that monitor? 1080?
so you went from an i5 14600 to an i7 14700?
k? non-k?
without framegen with dlss
fhd 1920x1080
yes
that's prob whats causing the issue then
games can only give u so much fps
good thing is though u can crank the settings now
if you're super worried about it you could do a fresh windows install and get new drivers for everyhting
:joeshrug:
but since you stayed within the same cpu generation
i doubt it'll change much
and idrk if it helps with intel all that much either, i know with amd it can
But overall, is the performance excellent right now with these specs?
it's kinda up to you to decide whether you like the performance or not
but yea the nvidia 50 series was very disappointing
If there’s something I need to change, what could that be?
you're already doing that, enable DLSS
that's the real power in the 50 series
but in terms of baseline performance it's pretty disappointing
Ok
Thx for helping
His monitor lmao
3060 was a great 1080p card
But you’re not gonna be able to triple your fps in most the shit he’s playing purely bc of game engine limitations
Check what fps other people are getting with ur card and see if it’s similar
Like u mean I have to buy 2k monitor
Really the only way to verify if something’s actually wrong
Really depends on what you want from it
Check with the games first tho
If it’s not within 10-15 fps something’s wrong
On average**
👍
Also use framegen where ever possible at least in story games
Or anything non competitive
You paid so much for it u better use it 😭
