Not sure what next step to take
Hey all, so I live in Germany and I'm currently trying to switch careers from Quality Assurance in the Automotive Industry to Cyber Security. I started pursuing cybersecurity this year and ended my Coursera Google Cybersecurity Course back in May. Now I was studying for my COMPTIA Sec+ exam, but I wanted to find an internship part time as fast as possible so I can get hands-on experience and maybe move on from my current job that is sucking the life out of my body!
The thing is, I'm learning by myself (so far so good), but I need guidance on what my next step would be. Should I keep learning and do the Sec + exam first? Pursue internships (although hard to find with my little to no experience, in my opinion)? Should I do a cloud course/certification like Azure to add to my CV?
Do some kind of basic projects to add to my portfolio? or level up my THM? (if yes, this would be the first step, what projects could I start with?)
I'm kinda lost and would appreciate some knowledge and opinions from people already on the field!
Thank you in advance!

if you're still with your company id say it's probably better to try to switch to a larger organization (i.e. folks wagon) in your current role and then try to get into the more technical side there
idk what the job market is like in Germany but certainly now is not a good time to be actively looking for work in USA rn...
I don't want to work in the USA, I meant I'm currently in the field of Quality Assurance in Automotive and want to switch careers to Cybersecurity but don't know which step would be wiser to take to prepare me for the work market (in Germany)
im just giving advice from my USA perspective
i dont want to work in USA either :pain:
I now understand what you meant with "Folks Wagon" - thanks for the advice!
yea vw
basically my advice is stay in your lane and try to move within your company rather than seeking a new job elsewhere
if you want you can definitely also improve your skills and try to apply for other companies while you still have a job
but don't quit your job if you don't have another offer!
I already applied but got a no, I need experience but it's difficult to find an internship, so thats why Im asking if I should invest in studying for sec + or do something else to get my CV more "interesting" for them to give me a internship
I'm not quiting my bread winning until I find something else, of course
as a QA you'd probably have some success trying to go into either red or blue team
so you'd probably try for either a pen testing role or a SOC analyst position, since those are both roles where data and QA are very relevant
so Sec+ is very useful for a SOC analyst to have, and id say maybe try to build up a repertoir of malware/skid analysis
idk if that's making sense but that's my 2 cents
Yea, I wanted to apply to SOC Analyst position so maybe I continue my sec + and do some portefolio work, thank you!
