General Support for CyberSecurity
Hey everyone, I was wondering I completed the THM Cyber 101 and received my certification. It is 15$ a month and as a person in Iran which one dollar costs about 115,000 Toman, it is really hard to pay the price.
Is there a way I can continue my journey and still learn without paying for tutorials? I feel like I still have a lot more to learn in this field.

iran 🇮🇷💀
but yes, you can find plenty of good tutorials on youtube
idk if you can watch youtube freely but given that you're on discord presumably you can
for you though i would definitely try to look into tutorials on operational security
Yeah mate we have VPN
and programs that bypass this shitty country
and even worse we got blocked by europe too
so noone in the whole world sells or buys from us
:brainless:
OPSEC? thats in blue team right?
yes
and if you're doing red team in iran you definitely need good opsec
well- actually no, opsec is necessary whether you're blue or red team
opsec is independent of that, but its typically a red team practice
Right, and another thing
when can I know im ready?
like for an actual bug bounty or job interview for a small company
junior position or even part time?
i really don't recommend you try to do red teaming full time
Like when do I stop going from finishing course to courser, do I learn everything in courses or Is it like other jobs where 80% of the learning is in the companies?
red teaming is not an entry level job, maybe it is in iran but at least in USA where I'm from it is not entry level
if you plan on trying to get a job in the USA for some reason you're probably better off going for a security analyst or softare engineering job
maybe the job market in iran is similar or very different, i wouldn't know
but the main reason i don't recommend you do red teaming full time is because if you want to do it white hat, you really need to have at least some sense of blue teaming. you don't just find the bugs, you need to be able to explain to the company what to do to fix the bugs and patch the holes
and potentially you need to be able to explain this to a nontechnical person who barely knows how to open email or save a word doc
i have some level of personal experience with this
Correct.
again, im speaking from a USA perspective but i imagine the job market in iran is similar
Iran's job market is trash
Like the pay is not good
compared to if I work remotely
i can imagine
I have tried software engineering
Didn't really understand
like went to Front-End developing
but got bored
USA companies are really cracking down on remote work so... maybe try learning chinese? idk :derp:
I like security you know?
Yeah true
I heard from multiple people if you get really good in this field
and be a top level expert
huge companies will fly you out and give you a place to stay and you work for them
of course with huge dedication and learning
not that easy
that was a thing in like the 2010s
covid put an end to all of that
im sure it does happen sometimes
but since covid that really has not been a thing
most you'll get is maybe you'll invite some kids out for an inperson interview or something
One of the people I knew, was the head of the internet and networking of my state
He worked remotely for a company in Canada
they flew him out last year
yes, but that was also the head of internet and networking of your state
do you have a plan to become the head of internet and networking of your state?
Nah not really 😂
But im not saying its easy
Im saying its possible
if you get really good
And gett known
yea im not gonna sugarcoat it, cyber is not going to get you and certainly not your family out from iran
Certain.
but it's probably a better pathway then most other things you could try :Talulah_tea:
Yeah of course
this is true of literally every industry
even if i get like 1k or 2k per month
do you know how much that would mean in iran?
if you're really good at making buttons maybe someone will hire you out to design a factory in egypt or something
2k per month is 220 million toman
eah
true
i do think you should still learn it for its own sake and maybe to get a job but... yeaaaa
Yeah
Will help me a lot inside of here
Thanks again for the support
Reach out to cyber companies in iran, idk but I’m guessing Tehran is probably the sweet spot in terms of cyber opportunities, people say to first do IT then progress to cyber, since courses alone can’t get you a cybersecurity job typically (unless the courses are highly reputable which costs more than $100) - its tough finding a cyber job in iran in short, but I had someone on discord having a full time job in iran in Tehran that was cybersecurity related so its not entirely impossible
Correct.
I know IT and everything.
But dont have certifications.
You know IT but do you have an IT job? Or had experience?
mate im 16, i dont have any job
Badbakht shodeem
Is there any universities you could go to when you turn 18 that offer cybersecurity? Or colleges
idk
I think so
You iranian?
Yeah the guy I met was around 23 and had lots of experience, its probably a bit early for you
Never say Iranian always say Persian
Anyway staying on topic does that answer everything? Any other questions?
Wait wait so you are?
