I need help with a hardware problem.

When my laptop's lid is open, it doesn't allow my charger to charge my laptop. If i close my lid it allows my laptop to charge. I have a HP 250 G7

Lid open and powered on? Your power settings might be configured to enter a low power state (like sleep or hibernate) when the lid is closed, which allows charging, but when open, it's using more power and potentially not drawing enough from the charger. Check your power settings Windows Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings

If might be worth checking if the charger and battery are damaged. For the charger the easiest way is to try and use it to charge another known working device if it is compatible To check the battery health follow this guide https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-check-the-health-of-your-laptops-battery-in-windows-11-and-10 and check the design capacity and full charge capacity

Whether you're still running Windows 10 or upgraded to Windows 11, a Windows battery report will help you keep tabs on the health of your laptop's battery.

thank you so much! I'll notify you if it helped me. Thank you! Oh I don't know, maybe I look at my battery I'm the bottom right of my screen and hope to see a lightning symbol. And I know it's charging with the lid is closed because I left it over night to charge and it was full. I can confirm that it is infact a hardware problem. I might need to get a new battery. And that cost alot.😋
