You don’t have to take anything.
youtube university is very good for csec
is there a specific field you want to get into or you just generally want to learn more?
okay so i will apply now
im sorry??
apply to what??
:MudWhat:
im new but i want defense because of more jobs
HAHAHA i was being sarcastic because he said i dont need to learn anything
don't waste your time :despair:
okay so what should i do
there's a reason my username is pls hire me
HAHAHAHA
im sorry bro
if you want a job, the only industry experiencing any kind of growth rn is healthcare
but maybe you should make connections or idk sctaully i ran out of ideS
you can try going into nursing if you don't mind blood and suffering
noooo im into computers and stuff
you do still need a baseline for connections to be worth anything
anything else dosent intrest me
i like how i can learn everything i need from home
so if you don't want to go into university, you can try aiming for a security+ or a+
really you can't
did you do that?
I don't have a+, but i have sec+ and net+
damn
so
i wanna learn it but now im hesitent
😭
it seems cool
yea the job market is dogshit rn
though hopefully it will be better in a few years
YEARS??
bro there has to be sometbign you can do
yes
yes, im going to graduate school 🥹
ohhh for what?
at least in usa it's almost entirely because of the big man upstairs
have yoy done any internships i heard those are good
trump? what could he have donr to cyber
that + AI but companies are going to learn to not do that in the next few years... i hope
broooo it seemed so cool
thats so dissapointing
i have 3 internship experiences and my username still is this
at that point if i was you id scam rich ppl 😂
how is that even pissible
i am trying to discourage you a bit but i will say, i do think it's still worth trying to learn
there has to be soemthing you can do no way your jyst doomed
basically every job today needs a baseline of cybersec, even if the baseline is don't get phished
baseline?
so whats like the upper baseline
yes, i keep eating, keep breathing, keep sleeping, keep drinking
i keep going, i may be in a hole, but the only way up is to climb
definitely man i love the way you are i wish i coupd help you but im completely inexperienced
i wish i could help you if im honest
i think its cool i do see alot of things on it and it really interested me seeing people do it and stuff
i thought the job market was different thrn programming lol
are you in USA? are you in HS?
yes highschool
usa
ok then id say it's probably still worth trying to go to uni for cybersec
well i wanna learn ot and get the certificate but i wanna go to uni for aerospace
why do you think its still worth it
id say there's only really three pathways that are a net good for you
1- go to uni, try to do it professionally
2- get a certificate, try to work jobs that need it
3- just learn a baseline from youtube university or gen ed
im just trying to earn alot for my family tbh it sucks that they work so hard
i definitely think the economy is going to be better by the time you get out of uni
okay so are you ranking those from worst to best
hopefully it'll be better by the time i get out :Despair:
dw bro im sure it will haha
im def trying to do number 2 though
no id say they're all equally valid
certificate is good for a baseline if you don't want to lock yourself into csec but you still want to keep the option open
really? but if i watch youtube i wont get anything on my resume yk
yes, that's the point
whats ccec
ohhh really
why would you wanna do that
youll learn enough to be able to work a job that's unrelated to csec
because as i said, it's establishing a baseline
ohh and then you get expierence
learning how not to get phished, keep secure passwords, etc.
wait so what jobs would that be?
anything really
jesus idk anything whats phished haha
mcdonalds cashier, accountant, ceo, chairman of the board, whatever
all of them need to have a baseline of good csec practices, and you can learn that from yt university
low effort, but it still helps
wait so a mcdonalds cashier
is supposed to know a bit of cyber?
😱
phishing is social engineering, basically i gain your trust either through a spoofed email or a direct DM and then get you to do something
ohhh i always thought it was spelled fishing
maybe download malware, maybe invest in crypto, maybe fly to my house and be human trafficked
i hear about those scams
damnnnn
glad im not that guy
yea I'd say a good 60-80% of all cyber attacks today are carried out by phishing
another 20-25% is insecure password management, probably 5-10% is out of date software
yea i hear about it alot
how could you even get someones password
and then a little tiny little sliver is zero day attacks
whats that
that sounds horrible
sounds like the end of the world
password
there we go, i just gave you the password to... probably 20m+ accountsno way you just gotta put password over and over again to hack someone
well what if you use some crazy ass password how could someone get that
so do you just trial and error that
when i say cyberattack carried out by passwords, almost always the password is either weak or well known
but no way their just guessing right
passwords get leaked all the time from insecure services, and we know the top 100 most used passwords
there's several ways someone could grab your password
wow this is so fascinating
how
they could phish you and get you to input your password on a fake website, they could harvest your password from a data breach, or they could just guess it
there's extra nuance but those are the broad categories
thats so cool but it kinda sucks thats a thing
so how does a cyber person stop that
well that's how modern computers are designed
there are several safeguards, some bad, some good
for you personally, standard practice is to use long complex passwords, possibly with the help of a password manager
and crucially, enable 2fa where possible
i feel like its so hard for a phishing scam to worn because how do you trust a random email sending ylu a link or talking to you
like if you don't have 2fa on your discord account, set it up like right now
i dont
gulp
when i read that i imagine you saying it so serious
but yea i heard of that
why would anyone want my discord though
oh you sweet summer child
you are old enough to be on discord yes?

😭
yes im 18
here's some really simple phishing training you can try
what do they want my data
there are several reasons why someone would target you
wait i just cliekd it was that a test
teach me bro
a lot of attackers will do what i call "broad targeting" where they're just trying to target as many people as possible
this is often just called phishing
5.3 billion from phising
so you might send 10m emails to 10m addresses, or, in your case, 200 messages to 200 discord accounts
dont tell me that😈
that was 7 years ago
it's only gotten worse
ohhb im guessing they use some sort of service to automate it
yes, there are several ways to do that
well if i was them i definitely wouldnt write it out
okay i understand the video
basically just enable 2fa and a tech that reports weird emails
the other kind of targeting ill call "specific targeting", where someone is targeting you in particular, this can be called "spear phishing" or "whaling" and other things
its probably like 99 percent old people
i heard of that
if someone is broad targeting you, that's probably because they need a specific service
some dude scammed 200 mil from this old giy by phising
ither they're trying to scam you out of $200 or, in a lot of cases, they're trying to harvest your discord account
and sell it?
because having someone's discord account lets them use your discord account to go phish more people
or, yes, they can even sell your account
that reminds me i lost my minecraft account because of that but it wasnt a email it just got my email and chnaged it😡
my accoutns probably not worth much
but i understand
typically not your account specifically unless you're extremely important, but there are black markets that can sell/buy thousands of accounts at once
and that's worth some money to some scam ring
that sucksss
it does
okay i understand so
what course should i do
if i wanna learn
now a spear phishing campaign is typically someone who hates you in particular
damn
idk, maybe you cut them off in traffic or flipped them off or cheated on their wife or something
i feel like if angone can learn cyber its probably so dangerous
and if they're spear phishing you, they probably want a big payday
okay i see
they're the type who will scam you out of that 200mil or your entire home mortgage or worse
DAMN
thats horrible
no, if anything it's the opposite
i dont think thats ever justified
it's the wikipedia effect, where because everyone can learn it, there are a lot of people who learn to protect themselves
dosent that make you more proficient
ohhh yea your right but i dont think most people will go out of their way too
ok so you want to do security+? depends how much money you have to spend :derp:
:blushie:
0 dollars rn
😭😭
well you're not gonna be able to get security+ with 0 dollars to your name
awe man
i shoukdve expected that
i mean i do bave 15 bucks
but one thing you can try and which worked for me, you can try pickcing up a textbook from a used bookstore or something and you can try reading that
yea i found a network+ book online for $6
okay so i should learn it and then what
the security+ exam is $500 baseline :skull_cap:
holy fucking shit dude
okay im still a little lost
don't worry you have plenty of time to get it
obviously get the book
thanks bro
then learn
then after that
but since you're going to college anyway, i think it's worth trying to take some cyber classes just for learning
i tried youtube but there sso many clickbaity videos
even if you're not going to actually major in it since you already said you're not interested
your right i should
but you can and should still take some cyber fundamentals courses
and who knows maybe you'll decide to double major :3
well not with an aerospace engineering you won't
i mean im more interested in aerospace but this seems like a good way to get a job and amke alot of koney plus its cool
HAHAHA yea no way
the other thing i do recommend is i really like No Text to Speech's videos
YouTube
No Text To Speech
Heyo! You've stumbled upon my channel No Text To Speech
I make content that focuses a ton on the social media app Discord. I teach people how to avoid scams, how to setup Discord servers, how to use certain Discord bots. Sometimes when I am in the mood, I do something a bit different that piques my interest.
At the end of the day, I want to ma...
whats this dude
🤔
lately he's been doing a lot more roblox-adjacent content but a lot of his videos focus on cybersec and aspects of scams
ohh really
ill watch him
yk who i watch
ordinary gamers seems good yoo
i like him
he's one of the ways i keep up with modern csec trends
okay ill watch hum
bro lemme add you you seem cool
also i can dm you if i need help
is there a lore reason why tahar is pointing at me?! is he stoopid???
HAHAHAHAHAH
yk ball
(you know)
he looks familiar
he focuses more on programming stuff but it still helps to keep up with modern security vulnerabilities
every job marker with conputers seems fucked at the moment it sucks
computers seem awsome
but ill give him a shot too thanks
every job market without computers also seems fucked at the moment
the only industry that is still hiring is healthcare
🥹
yea your right but especially computers everytime i hear about cs majors everyone says their gonna be homeless
i am NOT doing healthcare gng
😭
ill kill someone
im not either
the best doctors and the best nurses kill a lot of people
im more into making stuff and computers
yea ik but id hate my job
i am not into that stuff
basically just pray you graduate into a better job market than i did
everything seems doomed
no but at least your doing what you love and if you persist youll def get a job
idk how aerospace is gonna go but if you can get a csec job, i can definitely get a job
and if its cyber i bet it pays good too
that's not how life works unfortunately
a lot of blacksmiths loved what they do
seen a blacksmith lately? of course you haven't
yea your right but if you never try itll never happen
it you do try it might happen
no but blasksmiths are cool
their awsome ngl
