why did you disable it?
i mean you don't need to turn it on but it does help prevent your info from being stolen if someone steals your device
How? The only instance I will take my laptop somewhere else is school, so if god forbidden it gets stolen, why would they try to access my files? I am not a cia or smthing, I am just a gamer and student lol
any number of reasons, maybe someone has a vendetta against you because you made fun of them or something and they wanna see if they can pick up dirt on you or something
but if you don't really care about that then yea you can probably just leave it off
ok thanks but I want to confirm something:
When my laptop's SSD is removen, put into another device, then does the device encryption work? Then will it ask for the bitlocker code? Btw I am in win 11 home so I don't think I have bitlocker just device encryption
I actually found the bitlocker file in System32 before, I ran it unknowingly and it actually encrypted lol
I was on 11 home at that time
This is the official file for it, and if you want to be more sure, go to %SYSTEM_ROOT%:\Windows\System32 and go to the B section and scroll down there, you might want to read file descriptions though
Thanks for the info but it takes so long to encrypt. Look I have device encryption in settings that is more than enough safe for me, but it takes so long to encrypt. So it still rings the question, do I really need DEVICE ENCRYPTION
:shame:
It's really helpful if you do encrypt your drive, it leaves everything very secure and so that if your device gets hacked or stolen, nobody has access to your data. The encryption time will be worth it in the end if you do decide to encrypt your drive. Possibly leave your computer on overnight with the encryption running.
