Contact the cellular carrier that your friend has and explain the situation. There may/may not be a fee involved for replacing the SIM and maybe for repairing the damaged SIM slot.

What could be the cause though?

Likely the APU (All Processing Unit) and/or the battery could have overheated. Depending on the iPhone model, the heat could have been easily spread to the SIM reader if it's nearby on the iPhone's motherboard and could have caused the SIM card to melt

Ohhh thank you ill bring her the message :)

No problem, if the SIM melting is because of the battery, it would probably be a good idea for the battery to be replaced so the risk of the SIm card melting is lower.

Or perhaps not use the phone on the charger anymore lol
Foon - The Prettiest Princess
That is a good idea, because the electricity heats up the battery a bit while charging, and the heat from the APU can speed up battery decay and can increase the chance of the battery failing/overheating if the phone gets used too much while charging.

How old are you if you dont mind me asking and how do you know allat

I'll just say from experience while taking apart an old phone. I also watch a lot of tech YouTubers in my free time. Maybe a little Mythbusters.

how do you know it's an iphone again :wtf: that's... not what APU stands for you probably have a warranty claim against the company, you should definitely call your carrier about getting a new sim card

All Processing Unit sounds much cooler than Accelerated Processing Unit though

it does, it also sounds like a term a scammer would make up on the phone to convince me that i need to pay them to fix my computer "DO NOT CLICK THE LINK, DO NOT CLICK THE BUTTON OR YOUR ALL PROCESSING UNIT WILL GET HACKED" type shit but also no SIM cards don't have APUs or NPUs why the fuck would they

Could it melt or burn another way except from overheating? Like improper use does that exist?

I forgot the full name about it, but I know Apple Silicon uses something like it because all of the functionality (CPU, GPU, NPU, etc.) are all in the same chip Said earlier in the conversation

it's not in the sim card dude
Foon - The Prettiest Princess
I have disassembled an iPhone before and the specific model had the APU next to the SIM reader on the motherboard.
