When I open certain applications in discord or the Ubisoft client my screen flickers anyone know what might be the problem?

could be a lot of things, try rebooting if a reboot doesn't fix it, try updating your graphics driver

Reboot doesn’t work and graphics drivers have been up to date

laptop or desktop? if it's desktop do you have another monitor to try? even if not, are you able to try to connect to your motherboard's hdmi/DP port instead? if it's a laptop, has there been any notable damage to it? do you have any reason to suspect water damage or screen damage?

It’s a desktop I am able to connect to the motherboards HDMI

If the hdmi is plugged in the motherboard wouldn’t that affect the gpu ?

yes, we're explicitly trying to rule out the gpu as a cause

Gotcha Okay so when I plug my hdmi into my motherboard it does not do the flickering.

great! your gpu may be somewhat faulty try reseating it, remove it and put it back on or you can try uninstalling and reinstalling your gpu drivers

This might be completely wrong, but sometimes switching back and forth from HDR might be the reason why, because when I launch an HDR game on my Xbox Series X, the screen goes black for a few seconds.

I uninstalled and reinstalled nothing changed

is it application dependent? does it only happen with discord and ubisoft client? does it happen with google chrome/ms edge/windows settings app?

It’s weird like if I’m in discord and open a link or something within discord it does it or my steel series app for my headset it also does it It’s only certain applications

 and your graphics driver didn't fix it? but your motherboard video is fine?

Yes Fixed it I used DDU for a proper clean uninstall and install and it worked.
