White lines popping up on new monitor
Theres white pixels and white lines that keep popping up for split seconds on this new monitor I bought. I googled it and it says its faulty wires but I made sure the cables were shoved in fully.

might be a screen led issue
Do you have a good GPU/ Video card
If you do check BIOS settings
3080 ti
for what
yes that’s good
Check if ur video card or gpu has any issues
in the bios?
yeah see if ur BIOS is updated for any gpus u added
aight
or video cards

What should I open
UEFI firmware
Aight

Holy shit lol
Check if there’s any problems with ur bios it shows every internal part check if your bios is ready for those
Like check video card/gpu settings
In the uefi bios
Where is that on the screen tho im lost

Sry for being slow i just dk what all this does lol
yeah it’s all good uh
I’m not familiar with that type of bios, because each has its own but try to search maybe search for gpu graphics processing unit settings or video card settings
Aight
and u press save and exit to get out of bios settings
Im assuming it's prolly one of these

Hmm let me see
Give me a minute sorry’
Im seeing alot to do with cpu but nothing to do with GPU. Kinda strange
Take your time
yeah I think gpu might be in another section in those.
One minute
OK
You go on
System Agent SA configuration

Go on graphics configuration

ok go on primary display

Alr wait sorry mb, I see 2 blank slots next to primary display or igpu multi monitor
I thought they were different sections
All good
Earlier you said it might be a screen lead issue

Yeah just give me a minute sorry
Those were probable causes
Take your time
Yeah ik
Alr wait
Are u using a dedicated GPU?
Idk
How would I check
Ah I googled what it means
Yes pretty sure I am
if u are maybe try selecting to PEG, it forces the system to use a dedicated GPU. (Pcle graphics card) as the main output device
On here
Alright
Could that fix the issue?
It could potentially
If ur using 2gpus at the same time it can create confusion or panic in the computer
Try to see if issue is resolved
Im not using 2 gpus lol
Ur not?
At the same time no
Still do it
it can fix the issue
Aight
Issue ain't fixed
Did u press save and exit?
Yes
hmm maybe try connecting to a different cable then
Different hdmi
Im using display port cable
I only got one
Also was the white line also appearing in bios firmware setting?
I gotta use the display port cable otherwise I can't get 180 hz. Hdmi caps 140
No
Not once
Then likely its a window driver or software isssue
maybe try to update
Update what
The drivers?
Software or drivers
Aight
that’s likely the cause
I asked ChatGPT

I think that’s all I could help u with
Probably drivers
Haven't updated em in a while
yeah
i mean first step would've been open NVIDIA App and make sure there's not a borked driver
:skaDerp:
kinda my fault tho i shoulda be updating my drivers more often lol
yeah the issue is gone now thanks a ton @Rayz 🔥
i mean if you're not having problems it's not that big a deal
now of course you should regularly be doing security updates and drivers can often have security updates
but the most important ones go through windows update
👍
are you still having the issue? if you are i would suggest trying to use your CPU graphics instead
nah nah its fixed
alright cool
👍
NP @jqti
was comptia easy?
just asking
security+ was easy
network+ was not
i am gonna sit the text likely next year
a+ ive never tried i don't want to try yet
yep
yo u have GOT to be shitting me. its barely noticeable but i swear i just saw a white line pop up again 💔 💔
and again as i sent this msg
ffssss
try using the CPU graphics instead
😢
try plugging into your motherboard instead
wait wait i updated drivers not software
is the white line fully visbible?
its barey visible but its there
its very thin
taking its time 😭

:PLEADBLOB:
uh oh

wtf is a western digital nvme disk 💔
idk 😢
LMAO
windows 11 cringe
you don't have to upgrade to win11
im still on win10
chatgpt said software update is this not it
also im already on win11 lol
im using a windows 11 chromebook cant do nun on this laptop
ok so i shouldnt software update
yeah
moving on to new solutions
ill make a list of possible solution
the only port for display port is on the motherboard
cant put the displayport anywhere else
1. 1. Fully Clean Out Old Drivers (Even if Recently Updated) 2.Try Adjusting Refresh Rate and Resolution 3. Disable Hardware Acceleration in Windows Apps (Temporarily) 4. Test with a Different Monitor or Port (if still visible)
:DumbDawn:
do you have any other monitors you can try?
yk whats weird is the drivers update made the white lines REDUCE but not completely gone
one of these is likely the cause
dude i just bougth this one
it came in TWO days ago 😭
do u have another monitor tho
yeah lol
you can see if its an issue with the monitor, or the pc
my old one
use that other monitor
yeah chcecl with another monitor
see if u get the same lines
if u dont
contact where u got it from
if u do, it's a pc issue
wait if u do get those white lines on the old monitor @jqti try to do what u did on bios to the other computer
oh wait
monitor
i think settings will still be saved
yeah check with the other monitor
does his cpu have an integrated gpu?
🗿
not quite sure
no clue what that means lol
how would i check
what cpu do u have
dude im not seeing the white lines at all rn btw. i was like 3 minutes ago
let me check
An integrated GPU is a graphics processor built into the CPU or motherboard. It lets your computer display graphics without needing a separate graphics card.
just keep waitin
just in case
you have a 14700, do you know if it's 14700kf or 14700k?
seems like a monitor issue though
where'd you buy this pc?

ah
lemme see
painn
does he not have them?
i thought that cpu did 😭
oh wait i dont have ??
no it's because windows is stupid
i can't t3ell if you have a i7-14700, i7-14700k, or i7-14700kf
uh lets assume its first option
cuz with my eyes i dont see k or kf

better ss
ok im gonna assume 14700
🗿
no i mean i can't tell if they mean 14700 as in 14700 or 14700 as in 14700kf
any lines on that other monitor btw?
but it miiight not be f so it probably has cpu graphics
actually we can check can you go to device manager?
no
how often were they popping up on the new one?
imma switch back
@jqti if its really thin does it affect ur daily activities on the computer like gaming does it distract u
sounds like a faulty monitor ngl
becuase if its really thin or not visible u should ignore it
they were quite often but after i updated the drivers its less
i just got it tho 😭 😭
yea you might just have a faulty monitor
u should be able to get a new one
or ur money back
its distracting
like annoying
makes sense\
better now than it failing in a few months
@jqti try to see if cables are connected try rebooting the computer
did u reboot after u installed drivers?
how tf am i gonna get a refund i ordered this off amazon
dont recall if i got warranty
SUPER easy
contact support, they'll help u out
ah ok
sorry about it btw
no
💔
lemme restart
allg lol
@jqti yeah restart
hopefully it works
i don't actually think reboot will change anything but worth a shot :VentiShrug:
i mean he did update drivers
no difference
20 seconds in and i see the lines at least 10 times 😭
ok yea RMA it
:cereal2:
sadge
amz makes it super easy though so
u should be fine
@jqti try to to run ddu in safe mode
aight thanks yall
clearly not a driver issue bro
other monitor is fine
😭
yeah\
could hope it is tho 😭 🙏
whats ddu
display driver uninstaller
this?

no dont install
ok
other monitor didnt have issues
actaully im not so sure
this one does
no point in wasting time
check other monitor
might as well get an rma
dude im gonna lose it 😭
swapping monitor is such a pain in the ass lol
just pack up this monitor
yeah
yea life sucks sometimes :Pensive:
lol
alr one min
you can rma it and get a new one by next week itll be ok
this what chatgpt told me about ddu
oops
dawg
lol
hes pasting chatgpt text
u couldve just linked
the gpt thing
😭
god i hate this server
@Rayz dm
pretty sure he got timed out from that
i also hate gpt4o for several reasons
its only 2 mins
they did, for 2 min
4o is mid
gemini>chatgpt 🔥
your brain >>>>
too much work 💔
tbf it does what it needs to
not its fault people abuse it
maybe for you, all my brain does is think
to the point where i have a hard time feeling sometimes
yall i have an update. still havent made a support ticket with amazon as i went out but i just came back and tried switching from displayport cable to hdmi and the white lines are COMPLETELY gone
although i NEED to use the displayport cable to work to have 180hz. hdmi only allows 144hz
Was it the same cable you were using w ur other monitor?
Assuming it was, what specs is ur old monitor
Either way, try different port on the gpu maybe and if u have another display port cable try that
Still would try on getting a replacement monitor at the bare minimum
with my old monitor i used this hdmi cable
240hz 1080p 1920x1080
New is 180 1440p?
new monitor only came with 1 display port cable unfortunetly
yup
You could ask a friend if they have one 🤷♂️
If u don’t mind trying the old monitor with the new DisplayPort cable
Please do
good idea.
Not sure if it could be a faulty cable as I do not know what that would look like, but does not hurt to try
ill do it in half an hour and get back to ya
I might be asleep by then but I’ll try checking
🫡
Sat here for 10 mins praying for a white line but nothing 😭
It's not the cable it's the monitor lol
I don't get it 💔💔
:notlikemeow:
Monitor I've been using for 5 years has no problem with the display port but the monitor i got 2 days ago cant take the display port that comes with it 💔✌️
Let’s go!!
It’s fixed
Issues with new things aren’t uncommon
🤷♂️
U could try a new cable
But getting a replacement is prob a better idea
yeah ik lol
its just ironic that the 5 year old monitor still standing lol
yup no more experiments lol
just gonna get a refund
Does the new one only have 1 DisplayPort ?
Could try switch ports around
🤷♂️
Doesn’t hurt while waiting for refund
Or replacement
yup
@jqti hey hey one more last thing
this is super important but unrelated, make sure you update your motherboard BIOS, you can find guides online for how to do it
make sure your CPU doesn't cook itself! given that this is the first time you've entered BIOS you definitely haven't updated yet so go do that, like today if you can
Good ol intel
Lmao
Poor guy could've googled it and instead came here for a 400 message long thread
We love the yap
Apparently not 💔
returned the monitor. got the exact same one. running well for a few hours. and i coulda fucking sworn i saw a while line just now
could my color settings be the cause?

idk bro i just dont wanna deal with this again 😭
Check ur bios settings again
Or keep drivers updated
should've got a diff monitor
🥀
Nah dw I'm just schizo
Thought i saw a white line
Apparently not since no issues and hasn't happened since I thought I saw it
