Debian 13 UTM virtual machine
Did an install for debian 13 on my vm, and had it reboot (because it tells me to at the end with a continue button) and instead of letting me sign in, it prompts me to the graphical install. What’d i do wrong here?

you're still booting from the usb
change the boot device to your boot drive
and also remove the disk imagr
Remove the disk image?
yes remove the debian install image
itll boot from your boot drive
from.. the edit settings in the vm?
im not sure if theres a way to pause it or not and edit it
but i’ll try
Just turn it off or hard shut down. You won't hurt it
Then remove the disk drive and start it up
Ye s that
Thanks for the contribution 😂
alr, when i get to the “continue to reboot thingy” when is time to shut it down and take out the image?
🤠
Just... whenever lol
What hypervisor are you using?
Type two
I think
Im emulating it
cuz amd doesnt work on my compoter
Bruh
I mean WHAT SOFTWARE
to get virtual machines?
UTM
The os?
DEBIAN 13 trixie
My os?
Macos
okay
I'm going to bed
Good luck! 😀
sleepy time, you need sleep, your old bones need rest
I hope i didnt answer incorrectly
Im pretty sure
the easiest way to remove trhe install image
is to set the storage to 0
ok so idk how to do it in UTM but this is the basic idea
ill show it in vmware because that's what i have
All vms are kind of similar in a way so it shouldnt be hard to replicate it
the other major benefit is that the device is no longer tied to your vm so you can attach it to another VM and install debian on another VM
along with just not wasting resources on your vm
so wait
You remove the cd dvd
When though
Do you do it right before clicking continue and rebooting
Or in the process of rebooting like right before it reboots
ok so shutdown the VM
let it shut down normally
then you can edit it as much as you want
then start it back up again
BUT WHEN
there is a reboot button prompted when debian installation has completed
😭
my lord
ok so go up to the place where you turned on your vm
and use that shutdown button
force it to shutdown if you have to
you should be doing this either before or after installation, typically not during
hey it tells me to remove the install image at the time so
I gotta listen to debian
its after installation
however
