your own PC's ip can be found with using
ipconfig
in a cmd prompt terminalto the outside world, your ip can be found using by going to https://whatismyip.com
WhatIsMyIP.com®
What Is My IP?
What is my IP? Instantly check your public IP address. My IP address location information shows city, state, postal code, country, and ISP.
nice
someone told me that you can change your ip by using wireshark or something
you can change your PC's ip, yes, but the process is rather complicated and not that helpful
that's not a thing
not with wireshark
if you're trying to change your network IP because you're being DDoSed, or something, see #Oh no! Someone has my IP address! What do I do now?
let's say that one day i should change my pc ip
you can change your PC's private IP address if you want
but as i said, it's complicated and not actually helpful
changing your PC's public ip address is much easier and can be much more useful
for the public ip it's just need to restart the network
i'm right ?
yes that is all
if that doesn't work, you may have to call your ISP and ask them to change it yourself, idk how indian ISPs handle this
i'm not indian brother
ok
but generally speaking, you can unplug your router for around 30 seconds and then power it back on
either the network cable or the power cable, either should work
if you're USA then yea just follow the instructions you're fine
i think i just confused you with someone else
can anyone ddos the private ip and what should i do if thats happen
no
kick them out of your house
that's really the only way they can ever access your private IP
they can only ever access you by private IP if they're inside your home network
sorry for more questions but you guys are good
i heard that kali linux can help you and it's good for the begginers to learn somethings abt hacking is this alright
the only way that ever happens is if they physically walk in through your front door, or you have a different device that is already compromised and which someone is already pivoting based off of
>learn somethings abt hacking
imma stop you right there my friend
why
you do not demonstrate a good enough knowledge base in blue teaming to be able to red team effectively
im not saying you're stupid, i think you have a lot of potential
but you really should work on fundamentals first
it's often easier to learn the fundamentals by learning how to build things rather than how to break things
you can only really know how to effectively break things when you know how they're built
without a base understanding of how actual systems work, all you can really do is try scripts from online until something sticks
and that's not even mentioning why you want to learn about hacking first...
"Sorry for not choosing the right words. What I meant earlier is: can I at least learn the basics, and how? Should I take a course on this?"
yes, only if you want
you should learn the basics of cybersecurity, for you id focus on system administration and possibly network administration after that
as for taking a course, if you have the time and resources, i do think it is a good idea
but personally i don't think it's worth taking any courses from anything other than a university
why ?
so you can take some community college classes or better yet, get a bachelor's in cybersec
you can learn just as much from youtube university
the only other courses id consider is maybe a course for a specific certification like security+ :security_plus:
and even then only if you know the course is good
though iguess if your high school does cyber classes that's also a good option
I tried to take a 6-hour course in cybersecurity, and at the beginning, inside Kali Linux, I found everything fine. But when it came to networking topics, things started to get difficult. Why is that?
let me put it like this
i spent 4 years in college studying cybersec
and the last 2 years i took another major studying just networking
networking can get fiendishly and deceptively complicated really quickly
id say try not to go too deep into networking until you have a good baseline of computers themselves
then from there, id start by understanding the OSI model and TCP/IP stack from a conceptual level
then from there you can start looking at individual topics or cisco packet tracer
"Last question, and sorry for the bother, you really are good people, and thank you.
If there is a surveillance virus or any virus on my device, how can I tell what signs indicate the presence of a virus, where should I check, and how do I remove it from the device?"
you can never be completely sure you don't have any viruses on your system
but let me put it like this
take my mom, i love her to death and i also hate her to death when she yells at me
she's very smart about a lot of things, but she's also very naïve in certain ways
but she's an accountant, so she knows a thing or two about not getting phished
she has a list of employee passwords on her computer desktop, she asks me for help with the printers, and she wouldn't know an IP packet if it hit her in the face
she has very little technical experience outside of QuickBooks and Excel
but she's never had a major virus on her computer, because she follows some pretty standard cyber advice
and if that standard cyber advice works for her, it will work for you too
need this advices
it's 3 simple rules:
1. use secure passwords and 2fa where possible
2. keep your software up to date
3. be skeptical and look out for when you're being socially engineered
if you're extra paranoid, ill give you a 4th rule.
4. run windows defender scans regularly
that's all you need
you don't really need mcafee or norton or malwarebytes or whatever else, if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for you
if you plan to daily drive linux, there are linux antiviruses you can try, i don't know of any off the top of my head but they definitely exist
thank you bruh
:slimepray:
i can repeat it all day you are good people
all of u
thank you very much
i wish oneday to be cybersecurity man blue team
thank u have a good day
me too
...thank you?
im so confused
you just need to replug the ethernet cable lmao and that changes ips
i think
thats your pc's ip
@The Anti-Copilot is virustotal site helpful ?
for scaning any file
ye
ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
not in my experience
plus that advice isn't generalizable because DHCP leases aren't standardized across vendors
