-you can try tinkering around with gentoo in a virtual machine
-you can try setting up ESXi or Proxmox as a hypervisor and set up some VMs in there
-you can try setting up pfsense, vyos, or openwrt as a router if you want to try some networking stuff
-you can try setting up a server VM in something like debian, ubuntu, or almalinux to try to set up a DNS server or DHCP or web server or fastapi server or something
-you can try playing around with docker containers
no for main desktop cause i dont like windows too much and like i haved tried pretty much every linux distro
is there a specific thing about arch you don't like?
if you just like challenging yourself you can try setting up something like gentoo, if you've set arch from scratch you probably have the free time (to waste)
i mean i customized it and everything but it becomed boring
used pretty much every desktop envoierment for it that i can
i mean if you just like setting up machines and figuring stuff out i feel like it'd be a lot easier for you to experiment with virtual machines
so like i said, you can try gentoo or even linux from scratch in a VM
if you really want to challenge yourself you can even try setting up like macos el capitan
oh yeah linux from scratch
Get kali
but if you're just bored i feel like you'd do yourself a lot more favors by just buying civ 5 or civ 6 or hoi 4 or just minecraft
already used it and kind of used it
changing your entire OS every time you get bored feels like a recipe for not being satisfied with what you have
Personally i use kali for everything so i just recommend it wherever i can
yea
Its my fav
so id say
Use kali
speak for yourself :LivSip:
i got it cause you are into an cyber security
im more into an customizing an distro
and building some thinks for myself
yea in that case you can try gentoo or linux from scratch
like tools and thoose thinks
Get void then
or you can try building a new distro from the ground up using the bare linux kernel if you really want to
yea is good but used it before arch
xd
don't do that
but you can!
Bro went through every distro
yea is fun
i dont think
never tried red star os
xd
but i mean linux from scratch can be good experiment
ty @pls hire me
🇰🇵
hahahahhahah
can you even install rsos on a western machine? probably
nah im still scared to try it
i mean it wont be scary with out an internet connection
but whats an os if you dont use an internet
I'm not sure what you're looking to get here. If you've already tried all of these distros, then
idk more expirienc
Nobody is really gonna have anything new for you, especially if you're just bored
you can get a lot more experience by setting up vms or a homelab or a network
nah bro im using linux now around 7 years and there are not that much thinks that i didnt tried and like im trying to get something i dont know like linux from scratch i mean i heard of it but never tried using it
like today you cant find the linux distro thats not fork from some else distro
thats the reason why is boring now
Yeah so you've already discovered the rough limit of distros. You won't really find anything more interesting
Besides maybe QubesOS
look man i cant tell you what you want
i can lead you to water, i can't make you drink
yea ik no one can :/
i can give you a carrot but if you want a radish i can't tell you that
whats you favorite distro
so what are you actually looking for in a distro?
not to be fork of something
because you mentioned you wanted the experience, you can try setting up old CentOS or something
my brother/sister/sibling in christ
every linux OS is a fork of linux the kernel
which itself is a fork of unix
yea you are right
you can try some openBSD distros iguess
oh i know what can i try
there's like 3 or 4 main branches of linux off the top of my head, debian based, RHEL based, BSD based, and everything else
i will inform you guys at the morning how is it going with that
ty for the support
...is bro gonna like hack the pentagon or something
ahahhahahahhaha
nah
