@multi-spoon wonder boy do we do this here?
is TOR as a topic banned or is it more dark web stuff specifically?
Tor is a banned topic?
my b i didnt know i will read the rules a lil better
Good question. It's more so the dark web stuff
Nothing inherently wrong with TOR, but it's how it is used which can stray into no no territory
As far as safe settings go, the TOR browser is pretty well-configured out of the box
i was told that alot of journalists from other countries use it and theres tons of stuff abt free speech on there, yes i do know that TOR is also where the dark web is at but i just didnt know how TOR works and im super scared
Truthfully, there's really nothing to be afraid of if you're not talking to or engaging with sketchy shit
I use it fairly often for investigations and there isn't a ton to consider on the usage side
so its kinda like google in a sense of just dont download anyything and im good?
The biggest difference being that you need to find sites ahead of time because there isn't really a Google for TOR
Yeah, be aware of what you input and what you download
so do i need to do a reddit deep dive for free speech TOR websites?
Probably would be your best bet, yeah
ive also been told to turn off JAva script, what do you think?
probably worth doing yea
I wouldn't know though
any tips to avoid sketchy shit?
Yeah, that's a good idea
Honestly just use best judgement. If something looks or sounds weird, avoid it
🫡 see you boys on the otherside
if you're doing strictly clear web stuff then you don't need anything more than standard web guidance
if you're doing
.tor links, the advice I've heard is to practice good opsec
on the dark web opsec is a lot more important
and also just assume that you are gonna get burned at least once, you'll see something you didn't want to see or accidentally download something you didn't want to download
but once it happens, try to learn from it and try to avoid doing that again
so no SSNs on your tor machine pleasenaw i looked up free speech and the first thing that came up was wiki lol it looks just like google i feel less scared now
tape up your webcam etc. etc.
ty
Ahmia!!!
:AmiyaFumo:
what is ahmia?
tor doesnt automatically grant sites permission to use your webcam, unless you're actively granting webcam permissions or downloading malware there's no need to do that i'm pretty sure
idk ive never used tor and i never will
probably doesn't hurt though :VentiShrug:
tor has mostly secure settings as a default, would recommend a vpn though
i strongly discourage VPN usage
because TOR is basically several layers of VPN, you do not need yet another VPN to make it even slower
literally all you do is connect to the nearest country around you
also TOR network is heavily surveiled by governments so id prefferably use a vpn
all it really does is bring up ping by a couple ms

Can Tor's Problems Be Fixed?
In this video I show you how to customize Librewolf to browse the Tor network while spoofing your HTTP user agent in a similar way to the old Tor browser. I also show you how to validate the BGP security of guard nodes in your Tor circuit to avoid having your IP address revealed. These modifications are not approved by the Tor project and you ...
It’s not necessary and even quite possibly a bad idea

i tried looking into TORS networking aspect and got lost
all I know is it throws your shit into a bunch of machines so its amost untracable unless you're willing to go through the effort of elsewise
im pretty sure that's intentional
im pretty sure you're supposed to get lost yea
correct me if im wrong obviously but its just packets being bounced accross numerous machines
