Issues with ram, please help
okay so yesterday I bought 2 new 8gb sticks of ram to go on top of my already 2x8gb, they aren't matching but they are pairs of matching sticks, I have a motherboard with a limit of 128gb, and a limit of 3200mhz which all 4 sticks happen to be 3200mhz, but I can only get 2 ram sticks to work at one time, there is 0 issue with any stick or dimm slot, its just a matter of it limiting me to 2, what can I do about this? I've been fighting with it for over a day now.

which ram models do you have, and which motherboard are you working with?
also if you could put your cpu that would help!
alright i’ll figure those things out now
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor
Motherboard: HP 8876 Ram 1: HP37D4U1S8MR-8XR (8gb 3200mhz) Ram 2: TEAMGROUP-UD4-3200 (8gb 3200mhz) ill get pictures for them now

@guninvalid over coax alliance if you need more info just let me know, i’m stumpedrn so i’m not gonna be doing much
What configurations of ram have you tried?
I think a few things could be happening, try swapping the pairs positions and also try just single pairs. Keep track if anything works and check the bios for actual clock speed.
You'll also want to scour your bios for settings, anything to do with ram and make sure you know what it does.
I think I might have to mention that it also might be the motherboard doesn't support 2 separate dual channels of mismatched memory, even though they share the same clock speed.
Oh, also make sure you are pairing the correct slots
wdym pairing the correct slots?
I've had motherboards where they were side by side and ones where they were split

okay yeah i’m trying the side by side rn to see if it’s different
side by side didn’t work either
Same motherboard, same issue
i’ll try this now, thank you
Oh thats interesting
in my case it seems that it’s taking dimm 1 and 2, but not 3 and 4
i’m doing this and the screen isn’t turning on

so 3 and 4 are the problem
and again, none of these sticks are faulty
see that makes me wonder if you had four of the same sticks
i’m not sure
let me try one stick in dimm 1 and one in dimm 4
okay so i’m 100% certain dimm 4 doesn’t work
let me try 3
dimm 3 works
dimm 4 does not
1 and 3 working sounds like some dual channel fuckery. Are they color coded?
nope, all black
1 and 2 work together too
so 4 just hates me
i’m gonna try putting one stick in 4 and then leaving it
in 3*
fuck is this bro
now i have 24gb
if 4 doesn’t work, idk man
Getting closer😹
okay fuck omen bc now i have 32gb
holy shit
thank you
Dude said he had to put them in one at a time
you’re goated
Oh ayeeeee
Good shit, never touch it again🤣
yeah lmao
