Learner's Workstation

Hi, friends. I'm a newcomer to all of this and I'm in the process of acquiring certifications and building projects. With that in mind, what kind of specifications should I be looking at if I wanted to procure a workstation where I can build said projects and simulate security stuff? Also trying not to break bank, if that's possible. 😬 Thank you!

My apologies for the lack of details. So I'm working towards completing the CompTIA Trifecta and I intend to follow those up with more learning from THM and HTB. As for projects, I just wanted to start simple. A workstation that can emulate an SOC environment.

if you're cracked you can literally just buy a used dell optiplex and fit 32gb of RAM in there but to tinker around with networking stuff, it might be worth considering buying two servers for hosting VMs and a switch to connect them, something off the shelf at best buy is fine from there install esxi or proxmox or even normal linux or windows and then spin up some virtual machines to tinker around with
