Ubuntu not booting

As mentioned in a previous post, I had trouble deciding what new linux os to use. I decided on Ubuntu. Anyway, I used Rufus to create a bootable usb drive. I went into the startup menu to select what to boot from, but when I selected my usb drive it went directly to windows again. I tried rearranging the boot order from the bios, but it kept restarting the process. Any ideas?

Solution:

Nvm got it to work. I just had to install an iso that fully supported bios.

Pc doesn’t recognise WiFi repeater (I think?)

My pc can’t connect to WiFi on its own so I need to use Ethernet, WiFi repeater etc… I set up the usb WiFi repeater but my pc doesn’t seem to recognise it I have watched many YouTube videos but none have solved my problem…

What linux OS should I use?

Recently I got a really old laptop (it was running win 7) and I installed windows 10 on it. The product key didn't transfer over from win 7, so I can't activate it. A big thing for me is customization, so not having a key isn't really an option. Before you mention anything about buying a new key, I'll just say I'm plain broke. Anyway, I was looking at a different OS to use and I think I'm set on Linux. I just can't really decide on which to use. Based on what reddit has told me, I'm leaning towards Mint, Fedora, and Ubuntu. (If you have a different one, be my guest.) I plan on being a casual user for now bc I'm a total noob when it comes to terminal and I don't want to have to freshly reinstall Linux or anything every time I mess with something. The features I'm looking for are: lightweight, customizable, more for casual users, maybe gaming. -# I'm really sorry if absolutely none of this makes sense, I suck at writing 😭...

Local Linux user is idiot, SSD borked

Ok, this is the last cry for help before I just take it to a repair shop. I was being a fucking idiot and decided to unscrew my laptop and take out the NVMe while it was still running. Now I can still run the NVMe and my Windows partition boots just fine, somehow, but none of my Linux partitions work. I tried running a Linux install ISO but Linux mint gives me SQUASHFS errors when I try to install. I am able to get it to work when I boot in grub2 mode, but it still errors anytime I try to instal...
